Fierce fighting between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban movement is currently in full swing in the vicinity of the Afghan town of Mazar-i-Sharif. Arab mercenaries are still continuing resistance in several central districts of the town. The Northern Alliance's units have entered the town with 200,000 residents, from the South. The Taliban units are continuing resistance waiting for reinforcement. General Rashid Dustum stated that his troops had entered the town. Several shoot-outs left 90 Taliban fighters dead, 250 were imprisoned. Dustum's casualties are 30 men killed and 28 wounded. Dustum also added that the 18th division of the Taliban movement had been destroyed. The Northern Alliance has also seized the Dahdadi military airfield located west of Mazar-i-Sharif.
