Chechen Administration Head Refutes Media Reports On Radiation Sources

Chechen administration head Akhmad Kadyrov flatly refuted reports by some mass media on discovery near the village of Chir-Yurt of radiation sources at a Saturday press conference devoted to this issue. "These provocative reports were made in order to destabilize the situation, arouse panic and population outflow," stressed Kadyrov. "Such reports," he said, "cause great harm to the process of settling of [normal] life in the republic." The Chechen administration head noted that "in the village of Tolstoi-Yurt there is a radiation burial ground where Radon center experts have been working for long, and this work is to be completed soon." Kadyrov thinks there is no reason for the population to get anxious, as there is no threat to life and health of people.
