Work On Kursk To Be Resumed

Work on the Kursk nuclear submarine was resumed in the early hours of Monday. It was stopped on Sunday so that experts could rest. According to the Northern Fleet press service, today experts will clear out debris in the second and fourth compartments of the submarine. The investigation team will go down to the lower decks of the third compartment when the experts' safety has been guaranteed. According to Igor Babenko, the acting Chief of the Press Service, the sub will be examined by investigators of both the Northern Fleet's Prosecutor's Office and the Main Military Prosecutor's Office. According to him, allegations from certain media that the two departments have stopped all investigative activities on the Kursk are based on the fact that late last week several experts flew back to Moscow and St. Petersburg to deliver the items retrieved from the wrecked submarine for subsequent examination.
