7 Militants Killed In Chechnya During Armed Struggle

Members of the police killed seven militants while they tried to put up armed resistance. An official statement on Monday by the police press centre in Khankala disclosed that operatives had received information that in the vicinity of the Velerik and Pobedinskoye villages unidentified armed men had been seen. Two police groups dispatched to the locality discovered armed men. At the suggestion that they voluntarily lay down their arms and give themselves up, the militants opened fire at the police with automatic weapons. They were killed by return fire.
