Ten Died, Nine Wounded In Air Crash Near Zurich

In updated information, ten persons died and nine were wounded in an air crash of a plane of the Swiss airline Crossair. The crash happened seven minutes before a calculated time of landing at the Zurich airport, said official spokesman of Crossair Manfred Winkler. The four-engined plane was making a regular Berlin-Zurich flight with 5 crewmen and 28 passengers on board. The tragedy happened on Sunday night near Birchwil not far from Basserdorf when the plane was approaching the Zurich airport of Kloten. The weather was bad. The airliner fell on a forest, falling into three parts. The middle part of the fuselage is fully broken. It is the second such crash with Crossair liners. The first happened in January 2000 with a plane coming from Germany, killing ten.
