300-500 Foreign Mercenaries Active In Chechnya

According to various estimates, at present, there are some 300-500 foreign mercenaries in Chechnya, the first deputy chief of the Russian General Staff, Colonel-General Yury Baluyevsky, reported at a Friday briefing. According to him, today Chechen separatists are doing their best to leave their forces intact. However, the local and mostly international developments have changed - the whole world is now fighting against terrorism. Today, Khattab (a Jordanian terrorist) has no possibility to find a shelter abroad - any state will do everything possible to extradite him to that country where he committed his crime, the General said.
