On Tuesday morning deputy chairman of the Makhachkala administration, Ahmed Aliyev, was killed in Dagestan, a spokesman for the Makhachkala city hall told RIA Novosti.
Ahmed Aliyev and his wife were killed at their home.
Law enforcers confirmed the murder to RIA Novosti, however, no details of the murder have been available yet. An investigation is underway.
On Friday a terrorist act was carried out in Makhachkala which left seven people killed and three wounded.
An army truck ZIL-130 hit an explosive device stuffed with nails and other metal objects. The truck carried servicemen of the 102nd brigade of the Russian Interior troops stationed in Makhachkala. The servicemen were on their way from the city's bath-house.
A criminal case on terrorism has been launched.
