Police forces in Chechnya on Tuesday carried out 17 investigation and preventive operations. They checked 34,350 citizens and 20,713 cars and trucks and revealed 438 administrative infringements of the law, a Chechen police official told RIA Novosti on Wednesday. Police confiscated a grenade launcher, three shotguns, a mortar, a TT pistol, a Strela portable air defence missile system, 12 artillery shells, 21 mines, 140 rounds for a grenade launcher, 35 grenades, two electric detonators, 3,663 cartridges, and over three kilograms of explosives. Besides, 23 mini-oil refineries which operated illegally and four home-made bombs were destroyed.
