Eight terrorists have been killed in a special operation in Chechnya. Chechen law-enforcers reported on Friday that yesterday morning the members of a composite detachment of militia and the servicemen of the Interior Ministry of Russia and of the commandant's office of the Russian Defence Ministry were fired at from small arms and grenade-launchers when they were carrying out a preventive operation at the village of Novaya Zhizn, Kurchaloi district. During the skirmish eight Chechen terrorists were killed by return fire. There were no casualties among the militiamen and servicemen. Ten grenade-launchers, four Kalashnikov assault rifles and three shotguns were confiscated from the bandits. Besides that, a cache was found at an abandoned house there. It contained 9 grenade-launchers, two sawn-off shotguns, 42 mines, 35 hand grenades, 56 shots for grenade-launchers, about 6,000 cartridges of different calibres, a 400-gramme TNT charge and more than 800 grammes of plastic explosive.
