Iraqi ambassador in Moscow Abbas Khalaf refuted reports on fires set to oil wells. The ambassador stated at a Saturday press conference that "nobody set fire to oil wells in Iraq." According to him, "Iraq would never do that because oil is Iraq's wealth." The Iraqi diplomat also refuted that certain oil wells were damaged. He concluded that "it could not have happened as there were no fights in the vicinity of the deposits."
