Iraqi Information Minister Mohammad Saeed Sahaf has denied Washington's accusations that Iraq is using defenceless women and children as a "living shield" for its strategic facilities.
The Iraqi state TV reported that at a news conference in Baghdad on Thursday he said that all the volunteers who had arrived in the country were "people of good will defending Iraq by their own choice." The minister also confirmed the reports that last night a few tens of cruise missiles aimed to kill Saddam Hussein and his circle were struck at various facilities in the Iraqi capital.
The Iraqi president is alive and is still leading the Iraqi nation in the fight against the aggressors, he stressed.
