Mastermind and perpetrators of September 3 terrorist act in Shali regional centre arrested in Chechnya

In Chechnya officers of the Russian MVD /Ministry of the Interior/ Organized Crime Counteraction Department in collaboration with RF MVD Southern Federal District operative officers have arrested the mastermind and three perpetrators of the terrorist act, that took place in the regional centre of Shali on September 3rd.

This was disclosed to RIA Novosti by Chechnya's Prosecutor Nikolai Kostyuchenko on Thursday.

7 Chechen policemen were killed and 11 seriously wounded as a result of the terrorist act.

According to Kostyuchenko, "it is early to uncover the names of the arrestees so far," for investigators are working actively on them.

Apart from the act, committed in Shali, the terrorists were involved in over 20 other crimes. After the investigation "we shall unveil the names of criminals, guilty of the Chechen police officers' deaths," Nikolai Kostyuchenko remarked.

During the search, the operative officers confiscated 2 rocket-launchers, 4 grenades, over a thousand cartridges of various gages, an IZh-57 M rifle, a knife bayonet for an automatic rifle, a signal pistol, 7 signal cartridges, 2 illuminating rockets, a night sight, 7 portable radio sets of various brands, 3 automobile radio sets, 7 stamps of various legal entities, computers and a dictaphone. The investigating group is carrying on operative activities.

The terrorist act in Shali made a stir in Chechnya. The Chechen Republic's administration head Akhmad Kadyrov established an ad hoc governmental commission to investigate into the terrorist act.
