Russia Will Change Its Stance on Ukraine After Drone Attack on Putin's Residence

Trump 'Shocked' by Reported Attempted Attack on Putin’s Residence, Kremlin Says

Russian President Vladimir Putin told U. S. President Donald Trump during a phone call that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had attempted to attack the Russian president's state residence in the Novgorod Region. The information was disclosed to journalists by Yuri Ushakov, the Russian leader's aide for international affairs.

According to Ushakov, Trump was shocked by the news and said that Kyiv's actions would affect Washington's approach to working with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump Could Not Imagine Such Madness – Ushakov

Putin drew Trump's attention to the fact that immediately after what the American side considered successful talks with Zelensky in Florida, Ukraine allegedly carried out an attack on the Russian president's state residence in the Novgorod Region. According to Ushakov, the attack involved long-range drones operated by Ukrainian forces.

Trump was also informed that such actions would not remain without a serious response.

"The U. S. president was shocked by this information, literally outraged. He said that he could not even imagine such insane actions,” Ushakov said.

The Kremlin aide added that Trump remarked the attempted attack would influence U. S. policy toward Zelensky, noting that the current administration, "thank God, did not provide him with Tomahawk missiles.”

Putin, for his part, emphasized that Russia intends to continue close and productive cooperation with its American partners in seeking ways to achieve peace. At the same time, he warned that "on a number of agreements reached at the previous stage and emerging solutions, Russia's position will be revised.” The two presidents agreed to maintain dialogue.

Russia Warns of Response but Say Talks Will Continue

Commenting on the incident, Chairman of the Federation Council's Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin said Russia should toughen its stance toward what he described as "state terrorism by the current Ukrainian authorities.”

State Duma deputy Andrey Kolesnik, in turn, said Ukraine was trying to derail the negotiation process. According to him, the military command will determine the response, after which heavy strikes will be carried out against Ukraine. He added that Kyiv would not succeed in disrupting the dynamics of the talks.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov later stated that 91 drones had been used in the alleged attack on the presidential residence, all of which were destroyed. He said Russia's negotiating position would be revised "taking into account the final transition of the Kyiv regime to a policy of state terrorism,” while stressing that Moscow does not intend to withdraw from the talks.

Kyiv Rejects Accusations

President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Lavrov's statement as false, saying Russia was attempting to interfere with the negotiation process and "lay the groundwork” for possible strikes on government buildings in Kyiv.

According to Zelensky, Moscow is using the allegations to justify future attacks. He called on President Trump, his team, and European leaders to respond to what he described as threats from Russia.
