About 3,000 temporary migrants returned from Ingushetia to Chechnya

About 3,000 temporary migrants have returned from Ingushetia to Chechnya (Russian republics in the North Caucasus), said first deputy head of the Russian Interior Ministry's federal migration service Igor Yunash at a meeting with journalists on Monday.

Another 10,000 applications for return to Chechnya are now being considered, he added. The return of people proves that the situation in the republic is now stable, he believes.

Chechnya lacks places for temporary accommodation, according to Yunash. At present Gudermes has a temporary settlement for 1,000 people available, but most migrants want to return to Grozny, where there are almost no places, he explained.

A new accommodation centre, also for 1,000 people, will be opened soon. Another 1,000 places have been assigned to those who suffered from the flood.

Right now the Federal migration service cannot satisfy all the requests of those who want to return from Ingushetia to Chechnya, Yunash said. The service is now considering a possibility of renting premises from individuals. This would provide accommodation for 20,000 temporary migrants, he believes.
