The terrorist act, which could have lead to the gravest consequences, was prevented in Daghestan, a North Caucasian republic of the Russian Federation on the western coast of the Caspian Sea.
As the officer on duty in the republican Interior Ministry reported on Tuesday, November 18th, at the mountainous part of the Levashi-Gunib motor road, policemen found a powerful explosive device. According to the Daghestan Interior Ministry, the device was made out of six high-explosive artillery shells.
According to the ministry's report, the information about the preparation of the terrorist act was received from one of the detained accused of the explosion on May 9th in the town of Kaspiisk situated some thirty kilometres from the republican capital of Makhachkala. His name is kept secret in the interests of the investigation.
