On Thursday, the United Interior Ministry Forces stationed in Chechnya conducted a series of special operations, discovering six caches and hideouts with weapons and ammunition, reported the Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.
The first cache was found 5 km south of the village of Bachi-Yurt, Chechnya's Kurchaloi district. It contained about 57,000 cartridges of the type used with 5.45 mm assault rifles.
Another cache, also near Bachi-Yurt, contained 2 assault rifles and cartridges.
Still another cache on the premises of a former young pioneers' camp in a forested part of the Kurchaloi district held an antitank grenade launcher, 2 submachine guns, and a handmade device for launching grenades.
Finally, 3 various assault rifles, a grenade launcher, 2 Kenwood radio transceivers, a Motorola radio set and a radio telephone were found in a hideout on the outskirts of the village of Alleroi, Kurchaloi district.
In all over the past 24 hours, law enforcers in Chechnya checked 18,707 transport vehicles and 27,665 people, disclosing 289 administrative infringements.
