The terrorist attack on Bali island, Indonesia, has shown that "international terrorism has not been defeated, and a very long and hard struggle is still ahead," said Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov.
To win in this struggle, "the international community has to be united," he emphasized.
Terrorists "will continue to seek any occasion to destabilize the situation in different regions in order to strengthen extremist attitudes, for example, in the Islamic world," the minister believes. To do this they may use any pretext, such as the situation on the Palestinian territory or in the Persian Gulf, he pointed out.
The world community will be able to counteract the terrorist threat only by intensifying interaction, the Russian minister said. In this connection he stressed once again that Russia supported the strengthening of the international antiterrorist coalition and of the legal basis for its activities.
