200 caches equipped for winter by Chechen separatists were liquidated during summer

During the summer federal forces undermined Chechen separatists' material and technical base. Band formations, hiding in the mountains, are in a critical situation, as they completely lack provisions, representative of the regional operations staff on coordination of the antiterrorist operation in the North Caucasus Colonel Ilya Shabalkin told RIA Novosti.

During the summer federal forces liquidated a total of 200 caches, equipped for the winter by Chechen separatists. They contained weapons, ammunition, medicines and provisions. Food caches in different parts of the republic weighing over 20 tons were also destroyed, Shabalkin pointed out.

The fact that all the detained or killed separatists look exhausted and their weight does not exceed 55 kilograms also proves Chechen separatists' critical situation, he said. Cases of cattle theft in submontane villages have also become more frequent, Shabalkin stated.
