Village shelled in Chechnya

Last night unknown people shelled the village of Germenchuki in the Shali district.

Khizir Deniyev, deputy head of the Administration of the Shali district, reported that a few shells fell on some private houses. Three houses were damaged, a trailer in the yard of one of the villagers burned down and several heads of cattle were killed. According to Deniyev, there were no victims, for the people had enough time to hide in the basements.

Khizir Deniyev noted that the police, people from the prosecutor's office and the military commandant's office are currently working at the site. It was established, according to a preliminary conclusion drawn after an inspection of the shell fragments, that they were fired from a "mortar installation," said the deputy head of the district administration.
