A big cache with weapons and ammunition has been discovered on the Chechen-Daghestan administrative border, the regional operative staff on coordination of the antiterrorist operation in North Caucasus told RIA Novosti.
It contained 7 kg of trotyl, 20 mortar mines, 10 MON-50 mines, 10 OZM-72 mines, over 2,900 cartridges of a 5.45-mm caliber, 1,230 cartridges of a 7.62-mm caliber and 8 magazines for an AKM submachine gun.
Besides, five more caches with weapons and ammunition were discovered in Chechnya yesterday. The cache near the village of Shali contained a large-caliber machine-gun, an antitank hand grenade and four shots for an under-barrel grenade launcher.
Submachine guns of different modifications, 8 magazines for submachine guns, 4 grenades, 3 shots for an antitank grenade launcher and 300 cartridges of a 5.45-mm caliber were discovered by the Kurchaloi interior department's officers in the outskirts of the village of Mairtup.
In the outskirts of the village of Nizhny Noiber, the Gudermes district, in the forest near the Rostov-Baku highway, policemen found 4 shots for a grenade launcher, about 700 cartridges of a 7.62-mm caliber and 900 cartridges of a 5.45-mm caliber.
While examining a ruined building near the Argun-Mesker-Yurt highway in the outskirts of Argun, the interior troops' military men found a cache with two submachine guns.
Chechen policemen of the Shatoi district in the village of Khal-Kiloi found three grenades and over 830 cartridges of a 5.45-mm caliber in a ruined building.
