Belgorod shooter, who killed 6, says he shot at hell

On Tuesday night, Belgorod police detained Sergei Pomazun, who is suspected of the murder of six people. The man was arrested at the railway station of Belgorod. According to the press service of the Ministry for Internal Affairs, he tried to get into boxcars to escape from the city.

The perpetrator showed armed resistance to law enforcement officers and wounded 42-year-old Police Major Yuri Sedykh, who is currently in hospital. The officer received a stab wound. Alex Edreshov, Alexander Samsonenko and Dmitry Konovalov took part in the operation to neutralize and arrest the offender.

On Monday afternoon, Pomazun opened fire in a gun shop in the center of Belgorod. He shot three men in the shop and then killed three more on the street. There were two schoolgirls among the victims.

Sergei Pomazun refused to testify during interrogation, having referred to Article 51 of the Russian Constitution, which grants the right not to incriminate oneself.

As reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia, Pomazun was charged with murder and theft of weapons and ammunition committed with violence dangerous to life and health. In addition, a criminal case was filed against him under the article "An attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer." The criminal cases were united into one volume.

A complex of examinations, including ballistics, fingerprinting, investigative and forensic expertise, will take place within the scope of the investigation. In addition, the defendant will have to undergo psychological and psychiatric examinations.

According to most recent reports, Sergei Pomazun told police officers that he did not shoot at children.

"I did not shoot at the children. I shot at hell," he said.

When officers asked to repeat what he just said, Pomazun answered: "Hell."

It remains unclear what he meant.
