A six-month-old baby was saved by a miracle after his stroller rolled off a railway station platform and fell into the path of an incoming train.
The incident, which happened Thursday at Ashburton railway station in Melbourne, Australia, was captured by CCTV, CNN reports.
It was reported, the infant was in a stroller on a station platform with his mother when the woman released her hold to pull up her slacks.
Before she could react, the stroller started rolling off the edge of the platform and into the path of an oncoming train.
The engineer hit the emergency break, but the train was still traveling at a speed of almost 20 miles per hour.
The train pushed the infant in the overturned stroller for about 100 feet before it stopped.
The infant suffered only minor injuries and was released after a checkup at a hospital, KWTX reports.
News agencies also report, it was a lapse in attention for just a moment and it almost ended in tragedy. The 6 month old boy’s mother helpless as her son disappeared beneath the train.
By the time she realised the pram was rolling, it had tipped over edge of the platform with the frantic mother almost going under the train herself as she tried to reach her son.
Incredibly, the baby suffered only a minor injuries and was released from the Royal Children’s hospital within hours.
The driver has been praised for his quick actions, WNCT reports.
