A former "American Idol" hopeful, whose expletive-filled rant when rejected for the show became a viral video sensation, was killed Saturday in New Jersey after being struck by a car.
Alexis Cohen, 25, was found dead on a street in Seaside Heights, N.J., Saturday morning in what police are calling an "apparent homicide, The Chicago Tribune reports.
First aid workers took her to Community Medical Center in Tom's River, where she was pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m., he says.
An autopsy performed Saturday afternoon by the office of the Ocean County Medical Examiner found multiple traumatic chest and abdominal injuries, and a closed head injury, Mohel says.
"There was evidence that her body was impacted by a vehicle," he says, noting the death is classified as a homicide, People Magazine reports.
Meanwhile Police arrested a 23-year-old Toms River man in connection with the death of "American Idol".
Daniel Bark was arrested at 6 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Highlands on charges of causing Cohen's death by reckless driving and then leaving the scene of the collision.
If convicted, Bark could serve 10 to 15 years. Bark is being held in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $35,000 bail, Asbury Park Press reports.
