New Research Shows Black Cumin Seeds Fight Obesity and Boost Heart Health

Black Cumin Proven to Lower Cholesterol and Suppress Fat Formation, Study Finds

Scientists have confirmed that seeds of Nigella sativa, commonly known as black cumin, possess properties that effectively support the fight against obesity. A study published in Food Science & Nutrition showed that a seed extract significantly reduced lipid accumulation in a cellular model without demonstrating toxicity. The analysis also revealed its ability to suppress key genes responsible for fat formation.

Researchers tested the effect in a clinical study involving human participants. The group that consumed 5 grams of black cumin powder daily for eight weeks demonstrated statistically significant improvements in their blood lipid profiles.

The results showed reductions in triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins, and total cholesterol. At the same time, participants experienced an increase in high-density lipoproteins. The control group, which did not receive the supplement, showed no meaningful changes.

The data indicate that black cumin has strong potential as a weight-management aid thanks to its combined antiadipogenic and hypolipidemic effects. Researchers emphasize that the seed’s dual action may offer valuable support for people seeking natural metabolic health solutions.
