U.S. dollar mostly down, gold up in early European trading

The U.S. dollar was down against most other major currencies in European trading Monday. Gold prices were up.

The euro traded at US$1.3350, up from US$1.3305 late Friday.

Other dollar rates:

117.78 Japanese yen, down from 118.27.

1.2151 Swiss francs, down from 1.2217.

1.1554 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1522.

The British pound traded at US$1.9726, up from US$1.9593.

Gold traded in London at US$663.60 per troy ounce, up from US$658.70 late Friday.

In Zurich, gold traded at US$661.65, up from US$661.25 on Friday.

Gold closed at US$663.30 an ounce in Hong Kong, up US$0.40 an ounce from Friday.

Silver opened in London at US$13.35 per troy ounce, up from US$13.16.
