Elena Hoffman: RESOLVED, the American way

Ah the American dream, with some money and a couple of sweet words you can convince some or God forbid all state representatives of USA to come up with any kind of resolution you want them to. You want the sky to be red, throw some money to the ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS and they’ll RESOLVE that the sky is red in deed, and present you with a suitable copy of their resolution to keep it for whatever. If you want a resolution that the earth is flat, the ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS will make your wish come true if you "nicely" ask them to. That’s what there here for. Just a moth ago, The 92nd General Assembly of State of Illinois gathered on Saturday and per Dr. Antennas Papadopoulos’ resolved the Macedonian question in just a second. They succeeded to do what the Greeks failed for two centuries. They made me a Greek, using the following deep reasoning: based on the fact that my ancestors believed in the 12 Gods of Olympus and participated with their fellow Hellenes in the Olympic Games. I’m not kidding. Just check the Senate Resolution below. Now, my grandmother never believed in the 12 Goods of Olympus nor participated in the Olympic Games; She spoke no Greek or felt Hellenic. That’s why she was kicked out of Greek Macedonia and her father and brother were killed. But it doesn’t matter what happened, what counts is what the ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS says. The Assembly knows it all, except where exactly Macedonia is on the map, and any history about the region and its people. But in America, you pretend that you know it all and for the right money you resolve whatever someone is paying you to resolve. Maybe that’s why the world is in such a mess. Here I’ll shut up. There is no need to say anything. Just read the resolution below. It’s a mastery of intelligence, competence, deep reasoning and responsibility to do the right thing. State of Illinois 92nd General Assembly Legislation 92_SR0446 LRB9216991 SENATE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Philip of Macedonia, his son, Alexander the Great, and his tutor, the philosopher Aristotle, were born and raised in the Northern Province of Greece, Macedonia; and WHEREAS, The language and culture of the ancient 6 Macedonians, the ancestors of the inhabitants of northern Greece of today, were Hellenic; and WHEREAS, The Macedonians, like the rest of the Hellenes in Antiquity, believed in the Gods of Olympus and participated with their fellow Hellenes in the Olympic Games; WHEREAS, Pella, the palace where Alexander the Great was born, and Vergina, the burial site of the Macedonian kings, are all located in Northern Greece; therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that for all of the above 17 reasons, we proclaim that the ancient Macedonians are Hellenes and that the inhabitants of the northern province of Greece, Macedonia, are their Hellenic Descendants; and be it further RESOLVED, That the history of Ancient Macedonia has been Hellenic for 3,000 years and continues to be today; and be it further RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Antonios Papadopoulos, the Mid-Western District Governor of the Pan-Macedonian Association, Inc
