Robert Andrews: The Russian athletes have been an example better than many other nation's athletes of etiquette and sportmanship

I wish to comment on the letter to the Editor on February 19. This opinion is one who is uniformed and ignorant, an opinion probably gained from the action movies. It is the extent of his world. I as a Canadian apologize for his ignorance. I have watched the Olympics as much as is possible and I have observed that the Russian athletes have conducted themselves with proper sportmanship, almost reserved in their modesty. I have even commented on it to my working colleagues. The Russian athletes have been an example better than many other nation's athletes of etiquette and sportmanship. This 'Canadian' has embarrased my country with his letter. Perhaps this poor individual still believes in the Evil Empire ( a reference to Ronald Regan's 1984 speech). It would not be an Olympics without Russia or any other country. It is what the Olympics are about, every country joining together in the name of sport. So please disregard my neighbor's letter, it is not accurate. Robert Andrews
