Dear Pravda, I deeply enjoy reading Pravda daily. It is a wonderful source for a wide variety of news and opinions. The American press is finally starting to wake up and ask some good questions, but for the past weeks, I've been getting better information from Pravda than from my own country. Thank you. However, I write today to draw your attention to a particular headline: 17:00. GORBACHEV AND OMAR: GET OUT OF AFGHANISTAN. Ex-President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev and Taleban leader Mohamed Omar warn the USA to leave Afghanistan now, before it is too late. More details... This headline invites the reader to make an inappropriate comparison between one of the great world leaders of the last century and a terrorist criminal. I'm sure that it was not intended this way, but my first impression was that someone at Pravda had a copy of the United States Army Psychological Operations Field Manual. This trick is often used in the American press. It is easy to discredit words of wisdom by comparing them to those which were spoken by someone of poor reputation. Mikhail Gorbachev has much to say about current events. His words are wise. They should not be taken out of context to imply that he is in agreement with a known criminal. Again, I'm sure that this was not intentional. Perhaps it is understandable that journalism in the United States is less than objective right now. However, this only makes the role of Pravda a more important one. For the sake of humanity and history, please continue to maintain your high standard. Warm regards,
Frederick Lawson United States of America
