Car production in Nizhny Novgorod region grows 1.5 times in 2014

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, an offsite meeting took place dedicated to prospects of import substitution in the automotive industry of Russia.

"In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a whole range of commercial vehicles is produced, and this is the largest production volume in the country. The contract assembly of such motor vehicles as Chevrolet, Skoda, Mercedes is conducted as well. Despite economic difficulties, the production volume of passenger cars in the Nizhny Novgorod region saw a 1.5-time increase in 2014. Today, when we talk about import substitution, we talk about the contract assembly of vehicles as well. This is good experience for our producers, because these vehicles are produced under common high standards everywhere - in Europe, the United States and Australia. We receive new technologies, new jobs and train highly qualified personnel," Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev said. 

The head of the region took part in a ceremony to mark the production of the 10,000th serial Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, produced by PKF Luidor. The company specializes in the production of passenger and cargo and passenger buses of small class, as well as special vehicles, including ambulances, on the basis of commercial vehicles of world's leading automakers, such as Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, GAZ, Renault and Fiat, Pravda.Ru says.

"We are interested in producing as many vehicles in the Nizhny Novgorod region as possible - these are our limits for 2015. The market will develop and recover. We are confident that in the near future, our indexes will improve. I would also like to stress out the fact that no business can exist without interaction with local authorities. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, this cooperation has been established at a high level," said Vice President of the Department for Sales and Marketing of Light Vehicles at  Mercedes-Benz RUS, Seren Heze.
