Johnson Controls to construct facility in Harris County

Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI) announced Tuesday that it’s going to construct a 130,000-square-foot facility in Harris County, Ga.

The company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and installation of automotive systems and nonresidential climate control systems will use 20 acres at the Northwest Harris Business Park to make complete seat systems and door panels for Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia.

Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia is a facility in West Point, Georgia, (KMMG), that is scheduled to begin production in 2009 and is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles per year at full capacity. It will be Kia's first assembly plant in North America with an expected cost of $1.2 billion. It will manufacture the 2010 re-designed Sorento.

Johnson Controls’ facility will additionally create 310 jobs and will be in process in the first quarter of 2009.
