Chrysler LLC announced Thursday that it’s going to halt all the operations for a fortnight in July, a traditional procedure conducted in order to renew and retool plants for the new model year and to cut costs.
Chrysler authorities informed all the employees that those who do not perform “business-critical activities” should take the upcoming shutdown as vacation time.
Chrysler Group, controlled by American private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management, L.P., has about 70,000 employees. The official date for shutdown is the fortnight of July 7 - July 21.
