An American multinational computer technology corporation, Microsoft, thrives on the field of patents. Recently it has frequented U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, more than 500 applications in 2 months.
The latest patent is of the highest interest. It implies the expanded computer potential. It can now not only find out a person's heart rate, blood pressure, and facial expression but take action. It may help estimate the stress productivity levels.
Microsoft commented the new technology in the following way: "This particular patent application describes an innovation aimed at improving activity-monitoring systems and uses the monitoring of user heart rate as an example of the kind of physical state that could be monitored to detect when users need assistance with their activities, and to offer assistance by putting them in touch with other users who may be able to help".
The reason of such “Microsoft activity” may lie in its competition and attempts to protect key innovations.
