Deadly caviar no longer a threat

Caviar confiscated from Moscow supermarkets

Large quantities of deadly black caviar have been confiscated from major supermarkets in Moscow. According to head of press-services of the Department of economic criminal cases of Moscow Philip Zolotnitsky, they received interesting information some time ago. Apparently, one criminal group has been marketing poor quality caviar through city's major supermarkets.

Department officials began working undercover and purchasing caviar in various supermarkets. Soon, the initial information was fully confirmed. It turned out that the quality of the merchandise neither matched the sanitation-epidemiologic regulations nor the norms of the all-Union State Standards. “It was determined that the merchandise did not match health safety norms,” noted Zolotnitsky.

More than 3 tons of poor-quality caviar (worth 15 million rubles) were confiscated by police at one of the warehouses on Stroginsky boulevard. It was labeled poached and poisonous. “This is the major operation in Moscow in the past years,” stated Zolotnitsky.
