On May 20, 44-year old Alexei Konorev, construction worker by profession, who had been killed in Iraq, was buried in small town Zarechny in the Urals region of Russia.
All the funeral expenses were paid by Thermoxide company Alexei was working for before going to Iraq. Alexei Konorev promised that 3 months later he would return to the company. The town mayor brought wreath and said he would pay the journey of Alexei’s daughters to holiday home to the South. Alexei went on the risky trip to Iraq to earn money for sending his daughters to the South in summer. In his hometown, the man earned $170 per month, and applied for a job with Interenergoservice power company to restore the Southern Baghdad power station. Over 100 friends and colleagues of the killed man came to the funeral ceremony. The colleagues were saying that even big sum of money will not make on the trip like this, although many of them previously went to work to.
