At least 95 wounded children have been hospitalised in Baghdad and Basra. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced at a press conference today by leading Russian paediatrician Professor Leonid Roshal, quoting Iraqi Ambassador to Russia Abbas Khalaf. The professor said that the exact number of wounded children is not known but that the actual figure could be somewhat higher. 'We hope that the exact figures will be provided by the International Red Cross, which is now working in Baghdad and Basra. They should know how many children have been hurt and how many of them need to be transported from the area,' the professor added. According to Professor Roshal, the population of Baghdad is about 5 million, of which up to 40% are children. This means there are about 2 million children living in Baghdad.
