Syrian Religious Leaders Declare Jihad against US - 31 March, 2003

Leaders of the Islamic clergy in Syria on Saturday officially called on Muslims to conduct a holy war against the US. Syrian religious leaders believe that after the violence against Iraq, the Pentagon will unleash a war against other Arab governments, according to Rosbalt.

Currently, more than 3000 Islamic radicals from twelve countries are fighting on the side of Iraq. Syria is a neighbour and traditional ally of Iraq.
