Supreme Leader: UN must work on the case of nuclear disarmament

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, indicated the common concerns of humanity on the issue of nuclear disarmament, emphasizing that Tehran insists on the need for a "Middle East without nuclear weapons" and the United Nations Organization must strive to respect this matter.

Ayatollah Khamenei, in a meeting held with the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has referred to the equipment of the Israeli regime with nuclear weapons, supplied by the U.S. and other superpowers, which he described as a great danger to the region, so this international body must do something in this regard.

Moreover, Iran's supreme leader has suggested to Ban Ki-moon not to underestimate any power on the case of nuclear disarmament.

In another part of his words, he referred the request for the highest authority of the UN to assist the Persian country to resolve the situation in Syria and that Iran spares no effort in this regard.

At the same time, he stressed that resolving the Syrian case has a condition, which is to prevent the shipment of arms to Syrian rebels.

According to Ayatollah Khamenei, the bitter reality in Syria is based on the fact that some countries have armed anti-government groups opposing President Bashar al-Asad.

In turn, Ban Ki-moon has praised the summit in Tehran and Iran's role in the region, and the help of this nation to solve the situation in the Arab country.
