Soccer signings: Rooney back to Everton?

The hot gossip on the summer soccer trail is that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney may be considering a fresh start and a new challenge back at his old club, Everton FC. However, centre stage in the transfer move columns is taken by London club Chelsea FC.

It is revealed that due to the new UEFA Fair Play rules, new manager José Mourinho will have less money to spend on buying new transfers and will have to upgrade more players from Chelsea's academy. There is a lot of gossip surrounding Roman Abramovich's London club. One links Chelsea FC to AC Milan's Italian international forward player Stephan El Shaarawy (20), whose fee is said to be around 45 million USD. Outwardly bound could be Spanish striker Fernando Torres (29), who has been a useful player to jump from the bench but has not fulfilled his potential at Chelsea.

Also concerning Chelsea and Italy, it is rumoured that the London club has had a bid of 65 million USD turned down for Uruguay international striker Edinson Cavani, playing currently at Napoli. Torres is said to have been part of the deal, also.

Chelsea is once again mentioned in the latest Wayne Rooney (27) saga, some sources saying he has had talks with Everton FC about a return to Merseyside and others linking Chelsea to a 30 million USD bid.

From Chelsea, the name of David Luiz, 26, the Brazilian international centre back, is mentioned in connection with Bayern Munich FC.

Roberto Soldado, 28, the Spanish international and Valencia striker, is interesting Tottenham Hotspur FC, while Barcelona midfield player Thiago Ancantara, 22, is in the sights of Manchester United, which has offered to substantially hike his pay packet if he decides for the Premier League Champions.

Back to the Premiership could be Nicolas Anelka, 34, who has left Juventus as a free agent. West Bromwich Albion is said to be interested.
