Russia may grant Turkey status of privileged partner

Russia may grant Turkey the status of a privileged partner. This will give Ankara an opportunity to increase its sales market.

Turkey is interested in scaling up its economy. Russia, in turn, may offer Ankara a new market.

"There are plenty of forms for cooperation between the two countries. One can be a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), but Turkey is unlikely to join it. We will hear a lot about the economic integration of Russia with Turkey in the future. I do think that the question of a privileged partner status may emerge here,” political scientist Konstantin Kalachev said in an interview with lenta.ru.

Turkey is interested in developing cooperation with Russia in the field of energy resources and trade.

"They are interested in stable long-term economic ties, and they will use all the benefits. Yet, there is no need to hold one's breath here. Turkey is interested in us, but no one is going to sacrifice international relations for us,” the expert said.
