A curious and funny incident occurred during a joint operation conducted by the police and the military in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.
Special services were in an operation to neutralize a drug gang. Large quantities of marijuana and cocaine were found during the operation. Guns, ammunition and weighing scales were also found on the scene.
When officers arrested the members of the gang, a dog that belonged to the gang surrendered as well.
"There was a male dog that was barking when officers burst onto the scene," police spokesman Filippo Valdez said, "but when it saw its owners obeying the command to lie down, it ran over and laid down as well."
According to dog trainers, if the dog lies on its back and exposes its belly, it means that the animal shows a sign of submission. The dog thus saw the rest of its pack given in and decided to copy them.
Noteworthy, Brazilian police do not hesitate to shoot dogs during special operations.
