Russian pop star sick with brain cancer thanks all who gave her $1.7m


Russian pop star Janna Friske, who was diagnosed with brain cancer of fourth degree, posted a message on the website of Rusfond to thank everyone who donated money for her treatment.

"First and foremost, I wold like to thank everyone who has not lost mercy and was ready to help," wrote Friske.

The singer also said that the money that would be left after the treatment would be transferred to help seriously ill children.

Several days ago, it was reported that the singer had an inoperable brain tumor. First Channel (Russia's major TV company) collected as many as 60 million rubles ($1.7 million) through SMS messages in one day. The following day, Friske flew to New York.

Rusfond (Russian Fund) raises funds for seriously ill children in need of financial assistance. The organization has recently volunteered to organize and collect donations for the treatment of the singer.
