Nizhny Novgorod conducts extensive preparations for World Cup 2018

In Nizhny Novgorod, a meeting was held to conduct preparations for the World Cup in 2018. Members of the committee visited the Nizhny Novgorod main arena Dynamo, the reconstruction of which should be completed by 2018, and evaluated the construction site of the future metro station, Strelka. 

Preparing for such a significant world event requires serious effort. "As we expected, the program of preparation for the World Cup in Nizhny Novgorod is rather comprehensive, one of the largest in Russia," said the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev. According to him, "it is necessary to prepare project documents and conduct all tender procedures to complete all these works on time and efficiently."

As the members of the commission said, the World Cup 2018 was a powerful impetus for the cities where matches of the championship would be held. Sports event give "a chance to speed up the development of transport infrastructure," the director of the department of urban development in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexander Bodrievsky said.

The Russian government decided to allocate federal funds for the construction of the Nizhny Novgorod Metro. Strelka metro station will be located between a Metro store and Meshchersky Lake.

The program of preparation for the World Cup involves the construction and renovation of 34 facilities in Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk and the Borsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Also, the federal budget will fund construction and installation works at the football stadium on Strelka, as well as the reconstruction of Dynamo stadium in Nizhny Novgorod. Nizhny Novgorod stadium Locomotive is planned to be reconstructed at the expense of investors.

The federal co-financing is also provided for the construction of training grounds in the area of ​​the stadium on Strelka and the reconstruction of entrance roads to the Nizhny Novgorod airport. Khimik stadium in Dzerzhinsk will be reconstructed with the assistance of the federal budget too. To crown it all, 24 new hotels are to be built in the Nizhny Novgorod region at the expense of investors within the scope of preparations for the World Cup 2018.
