Putin signs decree letting Ukrainians apply for Russian citizenship

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree giving an opportunity for all citizens of Ukraine to apply for Russian citizenship under simplified procedure. The document was published on the website of legal information.

According to the decree, citizens of Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as stateless persons permanently residing in the republics or Ukraine, have the right to apply for Russian citizenship under simplified procedure.

On May 25, Putin signed a decree for issuing Russian citizenship for residents of two regions of Ukraine — Zaporozhye and Kherson — in a simplified procedure.

Later, Putin signed a decree on the simplified admission of orphans from Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as from Ukraine, into Russian citizenship.
