Economy of Southern Urals performs well even under sanctions

Under the conditions of sanctions, some Russian regions show unexpected industrial growth. Thus, in January-September of 2014, the index of industrial production in the Chelyabinsk region on the whole made up 102.4 percent. In the agricultural sector, the dynamics of development of basic indicators remains positive as well.

"In this case, it appears to me, a lot depends on the people, who locally govern specific sectors and companies, - chairman of the State Duma Committee for Industry, Sergei Sobko, said in an interview with Pravda.Ru. - By and large, it is those people, who stay responsible for realization of production and modernization of companies in the Chelyabinsk region. There is a reasonable approach and adequate result in the region."

"I think that this is an achievement of both the regional authorities and the federal government, - President of Sirius group of companies, member of the presidium of "Support of Russia," Yuri Savelyev, told Pravda.Ru. - The Chelyabinsk region shows that Governor Boris Dubrovsky eyes development - here's where the result comes from. I wish other regions could go in the same direction."

The socio-economic development of the Chelyabinsk region is based on the Development Strategy of the South Urals before 2020. The strategy was adopted with the active participation and initiative of Chelyabinsk Region Governor Boris Dubrovsky. On most indicators of the development strategy, the Chelyabinsk region and its economy catches up with the dynamics that the governor proposed. It goes about the growth of gross regional product, index of industrial production, dynamics of investment, housing construction, average wages and population income.
