The West ignores threat of neo-Nazism in Ukraine

On Thursday, June 26, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin regretted that many Western politicians and media outlets ignore the threat of neo-Nazism in Ukraine.

Speaking at the III International Parliamentary Forum in Moscow, Naryshkin noted that the recent presidential election in Ukraine and the dialogue that has recently started to regulate the crisis, can generate misperceptions about the absence of the threat of neo-Nazism. According to him, despite the fact that "the followers of Bandera's legacy were defeated in the election, the influence of radicals on Ukrainian politics was still high.

"It is a pity that many members of the European parliament, who would publicly point at this problem of Ukraine not that long ago, suddenly fell silent. Global media outlets are silent as well, as if we all found ourselves on opposite sides of an impenetrable wall, which was erected in the midst of the once united information space," said Naryshkin.

The State Duma speaker said that the adherents of neo-Nazism were the driving force Maidan riots. According to Naryshkin, they are responsible for the atrocities in Kiev, Odessa, and in the east of the country, RIA Novosti reports.

"The complacent attitude of the Ukrainian elite to them shows that the dangerous ideology infected even outwardly respectable politicians," he said.
