Reasons of Moscow metro crash that claimed 21 lives remain unknown

Rescuers finished operations at the site of the tragic accident in the Moscow metro. Workers started fixing the damaged section of the tunnel between stations "Park Pobedy" and "Slavyansky Boulevard," the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Vladimir Puchkov said, ITAR-TASS reports. Officials at the Moscow's Department for Transport still wonder why the accident happened, as there were no violations found whatsoever.

According to Russian EMERCOM, more than 200 people were evacuated from the damaged cars. In total, 1,100 passengers were evacuated from the tunnel after the accident. The tragedy in the Moscow metro has claimed the lives of 21 people.

Restoration works in the tunnel have started. A special system, known as "Struna" will be delivered to the site of the tragedy to check the stability of underground constructions and the subway tunnel in the affected area.

As for the causes of the accident, they remain  unknown. The press service of the Moscow Department for Transport stated that there were no violations or defects found in the work of the abnormal operation of the rolling equipment, tracks and other systems of the metro, Interfax reports.
