Ukrainian snipers open fire on journalists near Slavyansk

A Ukrainian sniper opened fire on a group of journalists on June 16, in a suburb of the town of Slavyansk. The reporters went to the region to investigate the information about destruction caused as a result of artillery fire from the Ukrainian troops.

The reporters got into a vehicle of representatives of the People's Republic of Donetsk. "When we left the village and went back into the green zone separating Slavyansk from the village, we got off and started walking, when a sniper shot was made. We fell to the ground and were hiding in the grass for a while, and then a militia man called the vehicle on the radio," said Andrey Krasnoschekov, a freelancer of Ruptly video agency.

When the reporters got into the vehicle, another shot was made: the bullet hit the wheel. Driving the vehicle with a ruptured wheel, the militia brought the journalists back to Slavyanks.

Earlier, in Dnepropetrovsk, representatives of the Right Sector nationalist movement detained journalists of TV channel "Zvezda," Evgeny Davydov and Nikita Konashenkov, and then delivered them to the Ukrainian Security Service. This was the second incident with Zvezda TV channel journalists during the recent several days. The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded Kievshould immediately release media representatives.
