Israel closed its airspace for civil aviation in the north of the country, particularly in the area of Haifa. In addition, Israel strengthened security measures and military presence.

The Jewish state made such a move after Syrian authorities announced that they were targeting Syrian missile systems against Israel.

Earlier, on May 5 overnight, Israeli aircraft struck the ammunition depot, located on the territory of Syria. Reportedly, the depot contained a batch of rockets that Syria was supposedly going to send to Hezbollah militants. About 300 Syrian soldiers were killed and hundreds were injured in the raid.
