Syria Has Never Harboured Terrorists According to Syrian Government

Syria has taken offence at US allegations that the Syrian government has been supporting Islamic extremists. As a Rosbalt correspondent was told by the press office of the Syrian government, these allegations are groundless and simply untrue. Syria has never harboured terrorists and does not possess any chemical weapons, the press office emphasised.

The US Department of State officially demanded that Syria admit to possessing chemical weapons and harbouring known terrorists yesterday. According to White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, the US government believes former Iraqi leaders, including Prime Minister Tareq Aziz and Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, may be hiding in Syria.
