World's Best Judoists Confirm Participation in Moscow Judo Grand-Prix

Three Olympic champions, three world champions, six Europe champions, and 23 prizewinners have all confirmed they'll compete in men's 2nd international judo Grand Prix tournament due on November 2 at the Nikulin Circus on Tsvetnoi Bulvar, Moscow.

World judo's elite, where Russians such as world champions Vitaly Makarov and Alexander Mikhailin and Sydney Olympics prizewinners Yury Stepkin and Tamerlan Tmenov figure prominently, will converge on the Russian capital to treat viewers to highest-class judo and compete for a $100,000 prize money.

All told, the competition will bring together athletes from 29 countries.

Last year Moscow was the venue of the 1st Grand Prix event. The European Judo Union, EJU, at the time appreciated the perfect organization of the tournament, giving the go-ahead to more such events in the future.

The Grand-Prix tournament in Moscow has been included in the calendars of the EJU and the Moscow Sports Committee and listed as Mayor's Gold Series in 2002-2003.
